Word History During the summer the 1997, Manchester High School and Bailey Bridge Middle School installed a giant marquee sign at the entrance of the two schools. Throughout the first year that the sign was up, no effort was made to regularly update the display. Consequently, some messages would still be on the sign one month after the event took place. This sign was a great addition to the school and had great potential in communicating upcoming events taking place at the two schools, yet this advantage was ignored. In addition, no one cared. At the beginning of his senior year, Woon made sure that this marquee sign was updated everyday. Rain or shine, hot or cold, snow or not, Woon got to school at 5:45 a.m. every morning for those 180 school days and updated the sign before people came in. The sign was updated with wise sayings and upcoming events. Many students and faculty members from both schools enjoyed reading the sign as they drove by it coming to school in the morning. These wise sayings became known as Woonisms.
